Editorial Reviews:
Product Description This entry-level textbook, covering the area of tissue optics, is based on the lecture notes for a graduate course (Bio-optical Imaging) that has been taught six times by the authors at Texas A&M University. After the fundamentals of photon transport in biological tissues are established, various optical imaging techniques for biological tissues are covered. The imaging modalities include ballistic imaging, quasi-ballistic imaging (optical coherence tomography), diffusion imaging, and ultrasound-aided hybrid imaging. The basic physics and engineering of each imaging technique are emphasized. A solutions manual is available for instructors; to obtain a copy please email the editorial department at ialine@wiley.com.

Customer Reviews: The Most Practical Text in the Field February 8, 2008 Laurel Jones (Portland, OR United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is probably the most practical text in the field of Biomedical Optics I have ever seen. The first one with practice problems so that a student can test themselves on their knowledge. It is also more coherent and easier to follow than the several texts in this field where each chapter is written by a different author and leaps from topic to topic in a rather fragmentary manner. I'd highly recommend this to professors as a standard textbook for a class.
Biomedical Optics Reference August 5, 2009 AIR (VA) Excellent reference book for those who are interested in the optics field. Good background information for general knowledge as well as in depth information on more advanced topics.
Great book October 27, 2009 Joke Baruwa The book provides the basic introduction to biomedical optics. It is quite detailed and explanatory as well. I would recommend it to everyone especially those who are new to the field who want more resources.
